"I am a studio painter for whom drawing is the essential step in the maturation of the work. More than color that invades and takes possession of the canvas, sketching penetrates or lightly touches, always maintaining the fundamental ambiguity of the pictorial image… Images and their composition are often imposed by themselves, taking the form of troubled or serene evidence that drawing inscribes in reality. Color gives meaning to this humanity: light and shadow in the full range up to sensuality and “mise en scene”.
The objects are careful pauses and questionings of reality that allow me to not be at the center of focus...
I will forever draw bodies and portraits. I dwell on: back, front, left profile, right profile, add the eyes. I wrap and unwrap the lines of suffering or triumphant intimacy…

With the same intense passion, Martine paints unique still lifes, flowers, landscapes and seascapes. Martine PINSOLLE is definitely a very talented painter; in talking about herself, she allows us to discover our own shadows and light, lurking in our subconscious. She also has that elegant quality of not taking up all the space, both in life and in her paintings. Isn’t that sufficiently rare among "expressionists" to notice it?
